This speed detection device consists of an optical transmitter and receiver units on opposite sides of the carriageway and classifies passing vehicles. It is one of the most accurate speed detection devices commercially available. Charlwood design has designed and engineered two generations of this product. It is an extremely robust and reliable product with die cast construction and an IP 68 rating.

Future Workstation
Charlwood design’s concept for a future workstation uses sustainable design principles and modular construction. The design envisages the integration of technology and the use of large LCD screens on monitor arms for better ergonomics.
Bus & Truck in-vehicle LCD Computer System
Our client required a touchscreen housing system that was robust for harsh environments such as mines and transport. Charlwood Design developed a fanless design using injection-moulded Polycarbonate, which resulted in a low tooling cost.
RV Alarm System
High-end modular alarm system for North American motor home market. All components are wireless and battery powered. Our design successfully addressed key requirements with a simple user interface and the ability to retrofit.
F1 Driver’s Helmet
Charlwood design was invited to create and exhibit a future concept for a Formula 1 drivers helmet. The concept uses a number of cameras which then display the image inside the carbon fibre encased helmet.
Ultra Compact Modem
Charlwood developed an ultra compact modem (GPRS/CDMA OEM Modem) housing for wavenet. To make the product as compact as possible the injection moulded housing needed to be engineered to be extremely thin. Charlwood conducted extensive virtual analysis (moldflow FEA) to optimise the design for manufacture. The result was an elegant and slimline design that exceeded the client’s expectations.
Rugged Wireless Terminal
Charlwood was commissioned to design this iP68 / nema 6 rugged Wireless terminal. The main housing is diecast in aluminium and engineered to be robust and reliable. The device is ultra-low powered and can be battery or solar powered if commercial power is unavailable.
Charlwood also developed the product graphics and interface.
