Cufflink Design

Charlwood Design’s patented design for an easy-fit cufflink resulted in a low-cost plastic product, sold in sets of five so users could have a different set for each day of the week. This product completely rethinks how cufflinks are bought and sold.

High Performance Disk Brakes

Charlwood designs’ services resulted in our client successfully winning the tender for the Audi S4 disc brake beating the competition on design, price and performance. We have also designed a high performance six pot disc brake for Corvette. The result was a stylish design that did not impinge on the performance or weight of the brake caliper.

Time Capsule

Charlwood Design was approached to design and manufacture a custom time capsule for Manningham Council to mark the opening of MC² (Manningham City Square) community centre.

Inspired by an acorn as a tribute to the oak trees that once stood on the site the final design utilises an intricate, laser-cut, stainless steel frame to showcase the contemporary production techniques available. This is contrasted by the simple internal capsule, plated in copper to represent the warmth of nature and the precious contents inside. The original intention was to bury the time capsule underground. As Charlwood’s design emerged, however, the Council deemed it “too precious and beautiful to conceal” so Charlwood was also commissioned to create a unique display for the capsule at the entry point of the MC² community centre, complete with a countdown timer. The result is a striking piece of contemporary design and a focal point of community pride for the next 50 years and beyond.

RV Alarm System

High-end modular alarm system for North American motor home market. All components are wireless and battery powered. Our design successfully addressed key requirements with a simple user interface and the ability to retrofit.

Truck Hoist

Design and engineering for an electronic hoisting system for truck trailer landing legs. Charlwood worked on the total development of the product, from concept through to engineering the final diecast components.

Ultra Compact Modem

Charlwood developed an ultra compact modem (GPRS/CDMA OEM Modem) housing for wavenet. To make the product as compact as possible the injection moulded housing needed to be engineered to be extremely thin.  Charlwood conducted extensive virtual analysis (moldflow FEA) to optimise the design for manufacture. The result was an elegant and slimline design that exceeded the client’s expectations.

Rugged Wireless Terminal

Charlwood was commissioned to design this iP68 / nema 6 rugged Wireless terminal. The main housing is diecast in aluminium and engineered to be robust and reliable. The device is ultra-low powered and can be battery or solar powered if commercial power is unavailable.

Charlwood also developed the product graphics and interface.
